Mashed potatoes taste their very best when made from scratch using fresh potatoes. Homemade
mashed potatoes make the ideal side dish for chicken, turkey, steak, or any entree. Mashed potatoes
are especially enjoyed with gravy on top or a dab of fresh butter. The perfect mashed potatoes will be fluffy and hearty.
Ingredients:
6 idaho potatoes
1/4 cup of butter
about 1/2 cups of milk
salt and pepper
Cooking Instructions:
Peel potatoes, cut into 1" chunks, then boil on low heat in salted water for about 20 minutes with lid on, until they are easily pierced with a fork, then strain.
Place potatoes in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer, mash down the potatoes. Add butter and salt and pepper. Turn mixer on med. high, and begin mixing. Gradually add milk, while mixing, until you get your mashed potatoes the right consistency.
Yield: 6 servings
