Baked beans always make a perfect side dish. They're great served at a cook-out along with hamburgers, hotdogs, or barbecued meats.
Baked beans really can complete any meat or poultry dish. This is a easy baked bean recipe that allows you to add a few ingredients
to your favorite canned pork and beans.
Ingredients:
32 oz. can pork and beans
1 lrg. onion - chopped fine
3/4 cup ketchup
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 Tbls. prepared yellow mustard
1 tsp. distilled white vinegar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/2 lb. raw bacon (option, but recommended)
Preparation:
Combine all ingredients, except bacon, in a 2 quart casserole dish. Top beans with strips of bacon in a crisscross pattern.
Cover with aluminum foil. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours. Remove foil for last 30 minutes of baking.
Yields: 8-12 servings
